The Bravo host describes his experience in the delivery room.
Andy Cohen is opening up about challenges of fatherhood — particularly when it comes to traveling.
“It is stressful. It’s way more stressful than it was before,” the Bravo star told People in an interview. “We had our first solo car trip on Father’s Day.”
Cohen announced his first child, Benjamin, was born via surrogate on Feb. 4.
“The second I put him in the car, he starts crying and crying and I was like, ‘Oh my God,’ ” he added. “I have this rearview mirror thing over his car seat, so I could just see him in terror.”
But Cohen was able to figure out how to calm his baby down: With some good old-fashioned rock ‘n roll.
“Once we started rolling and I got the Grateful Dead playing, which always calms both of us down, he was great,” Cohen also said. “He was a champ. I actually think it’s the way to get him to fall asleep — put him in the car.”
Cohen, like many others, has been documenting his parenting journey on social media. His followers didn’t react well back in February to a travel-related post, showing Cohen on a private plane with the days-old infant strapped in a papoose. According to an expert on the Mayo Clinic’s website, air travel is OK for most infants, though parents should take proper precautions and consult a doctor when applicable.
