Trevor Noah has his heart set on nabbing an interview with a member of the Trump family — but not the one you’d think.
Though Noah previously said the president would be a “dream guest” for “The Daily Show,” his feelings have changed, he revealed in a Tuesday appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
“It used to be Trump and then I was like, after watching his interviews over the last few years, I understand what’s going to happen,” Noah said. “I would interview him, he’s going to tell me how well he’s doing. I’ll ask him about something, if he doesn’t know the answer, he’ll make the answer up.
“If he doesn’t know what’s happening, he’ll say, ‘I’ll get back to you,’ ” the comedian continued, voicing his Trump impression. ” ‘Very, very, very big, very close. We’re going to do it so much and so forth. They know. They don’t know.’ ”
Now in his fourth season as host of “The Daily Show,” Noah already “knows the game” when it comes to the president, so what’s the point? Instead, he’s turning his efforts to nab an interview with another White House resident.
“Now, genuinely, I want to interview Melania Trump,” he said. “She’s my new dream guest. Because I want to know if her Be Best anti-bullying campaign online is, like, a long-term dig at her husband. I genuinely want to know that. It’s a very specific thing to come out and be like, ‘I’m coming for online bullying… People on the Twitter are saying the bad things.’ “
“Which people?” Noah quipped with a smile.
