Actress Lori Loughlin, her husband Mossimo Giannulli and 14 other parents face new money laundering charges as part of the college admissions scheme.
“Saturday Night Live” strayed from its typical political cold open this week by taking us to the Chino Correctional Facility − though we were quickly introduced to some familiar headline-making prisoners.
Kate McKinnon showed up as college admissions scandal-embroiled Lori Loughlin, who was most recently indicted by a federal grand jury and charged with money laundering.
“I paid $500,000 to a women’s crew coach to say my daughter was good at rowing,” she bragged to her fellow inmates. “I’m loco.” She says she owns the guards in prison and helped their kids get into a competitive pre-K. Her new name in prison is “Brother Becky,” retiring her “Aunt Becky” moniker,
But is she going to make it in prison?
“You think prison is hard?” she says to her fellow inmates. “I have done 68 Hallmark movies. I’ve seen hell, man.” She’s lost sense of reality: “I’m gonna take your heart and I’m gonna cut it out,” she adds, making another “Full House” reference.
Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli, who were among a total of nearly three-dozen parents arrested last month on mail-fraud charges in a criminal complaint, are accused of conspiring with scam mastermid William “Rick” Singer, 58, of Newport Beach, Calif., and others, to bribe college officials and coaches, and to artificially inflate entrance exam scores, in order to get their children admitted to elite colleges and universities.
The sketch also featured Pete Davidson as Michael Avenatti, who joked about still running for president (Avenatti-Baldwin 2020) and surprise guest star Michael Keaton as Julian Assange.
“Is there a bathroom around here, because I really have to take a Wikileak,” he says.
