SportsPulse: Opening week is upon us and hope springs eternal. For The Win’s Ted Berg provides his biggest and boldest predictions for the 2019 MLB season.
Major League Baseball players are just as anxious as the rest of us to get the regular season started.
And when you’re only getting paid meal money during spring training, minor inconveniences can sometimes turn into major complaints.
On Sunday, New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard expressed his displeasure over the team leaving spring training in Florida for a workout in Syracuse, N.Y. before the team’s season opener.
“I don’t know whose idea that was, but it’s not a smart one,” the right-hander told reporters. “And we’re not even playing a game. We’re having a workout.”
Almost sounds a little like Allen Iverson’s famous “we’re talkin’ about practice” rant.
So can Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun really be faulted for a little memory lapse as the team was preparing for a trip to Montreal for two final exhibition games?
As the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel found out, more than a few Brewers fans weren’t buying Braun’s excuse.
So much for Braun getting poutine with his last bit of spring training meal money.
