After a surprise goodbye, some fans of “The Bachelor” are already hoping the recently departed woman will become the new leading lady.
Congratulations, Bachelor Nation, we are finally done with making virginity jokes!
Oh, and we have named a new Bachelorette!
Colton’s season is over. After dumping his remaining two ladies and jumping over a fence to get Cassie “I’m not ready for engagement” back, he was all smiles while dancing with his now-girlfriend Cassie to “legendary band” (Chris Harrison’s words) Air Supply in the finale. THE END.
So it’s time to move on to a new season of serial dating! This time, the star is (drumroll) … Hannah B.
Like all of the dumped damsels-turned-Bachelorettes before her, former Miss Alabama Hannah B. (not to be confused with Colton contender Hannah G., who actually lasted longer in the reality competition) will be the main player in the next iteration of the ABC reality show. And it will be the most dramatic season yet.
Actually, based on the first few minutes of airtime she was given during the “Bachelor” season finale Tuesday night, we bet it really won’t.
We saw Hannah B. (though now we just call her “Hannah”) announced as the new star. Then, we saw a video of Chris telling her on Facetime that she was the new star. After that, we saw camera footage of Hannah watching Chris on Facetime tell her she’s the new star. Finally, we saw Hannah cry, and by that we mean she scrunched her face as if she were crying but actually didn’t ruin her makeup at all.
‘The Bachelor’ finale: What actually happened between Colton and Cassie
Back on the live show, Hannah said, “(Love) didn’t happen for me for my first time around, but I do believe that it can happen and I’m just so grateful and honored that people saw my heart and I can continue showing that.”
Once it was crystal clear that Hannah would be the heart-baring lead of the show, she met the first five guys from her season, which doesn’t air until May. One of the guys rapped. Another presented a bedazzled footstool. A third brought champagne for a toast about “the start of a wonderful beginning.” Two of them were named Luke.
Ultimately, Hannah decided to, surprise, give one guy a rose (though the other guys are all still invited to the house and that mini ceremony means nothing). While presenting the boutonniere to Cam, she said, “That was one of the hardest decisions I’ve made all season.”
Despite that one joke, #BachelorNation wasn’t smiling about Hannah B. being named the new Bachelorette. Many shared their displeasure via GIFs.
