A Verizon wireless outage is impacting customers along the East Coast on Tuesday, the company said.
“We have confirmed there is a texting outage on the east coast. Our technicians a fully aware we have a ton of customers that are being effected, and we’re working non-stop to get this matter resolved as soon as possible,” the company tweeted.
There was no estimate for repair or how widespread the text outage was.
Verizon recommended periodically restarting devices, but did not say it would fix the problem. Customer service said that the issue could be resolved “at any time.”
The texting outage prompted outrage, complaints and frustration from Verizon customers. Customers tweeted their frustration as Verizon customer service worked to address the concerns.

Some customers called for a hashtag to push Verizon to fix the problem, while others pointed out just how much people rely on texting.
Although Verizon did not confirm the scope of the outage, Down Detector, a website that tracks service and power outages, had a map with reported service outages.
