Authorities in Los Angeles have identified a girl found dead inside a duffel bag last week.
In a statement released Sunday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office said the victim, 9-year-old Trinity Love Jones, was a resident of Los Angeles County. Her identity was confirmed by the county medical examiner.
Authorities say Jones’ body was found on March 5 inside a duffel bag along an equestrian trail in the Hacienda Heights neighborhood. The girl was wearing a pink, long-sleeve shirt with the phrase “Future princess hero” that appeared to have princess crossed out, and gray panda print pants, said the sheriff’s office.
“Although the Coroner’s Office determined the death to be a homicide, the cause of death is being withheld,” said the sheriff’s office in a statement.
The sheriff’s office said two persons of interest have been detained in the case.
Family members gathered at the trail where the girl was found at a memorial with candles, flowers and photos after her identity was confirmed, reports KTLA.
“She was just the best,” said Antonio Jones, Trinity Jones’ father, during an interview with KTLA. “Full of character, full of life, full of joy.”
