After a difficult and emotional few weeks, Mandy Moore is ready to power forward.
The “This is Us” actress, 34, opened up about how she’s feeling in the aftermath of participating in an expose by the New York Times, which delved into her ex-husband Ryan Adams’s alleged history of championing aspiring female artists and then manipulating and harassing them.
Moore revealed a new, much shorter haircut Thursday and later shared the inspiring reason for the change-up.
She called the last few weeks “emotionally turbulent” while talking to Access Hollywood. “And I think there is something significant about shedding dead weight, and I’m moving forward.”
Moore added that the support she’s received since the article published has been “really overwhelming.”
“I think it’s important to, if possible, speak your truth,” she said. “But I had no idea the overwhelming amount of support that not only I would receive, but so many other women who also came forward for this particular situation and story.”
She continued: “I’m happy that people, and women specially, who perhaps have been in abusive situations of any form feel seen and heard and recognized. Because that was what I was most surprised about by speaking out – feeling like other women were like, ‘Thank you, I’m encouraged to come forward now and share my story as well or just to know that I’m not alone in the situation.’ ”
