Jennifer Lopez and Alexander Rodriguez made a big announcement on social media.
There is a new royal wedding coming to Hollywood, because Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are engaged!
The former baseball star, 43, popped the question to Lopez, 49, during a romantic, beach getaway Saturday. “She said yes,” Rodriguez captioned a sunset picture of a giant engagement ring on his fiancee’s finger.
Lopez shared the same picture on her Instagram account, tagging Ellen DeGeneres, who previously happily volunteered to help plan the power couple’s pending nuptials.
“Yes. I’ll be your maid of honor,” the television host commented under Lopez’s engagement post. DeGeneres has been pushing the lovebirds to the wedding aisle for some time, flat-out asking Lopez in November: “So, you’ll be getting married?”
In November, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” host grilled Lopez on her relationship with Rodriguez, suggesting they tie the knot because they “seem very happy.”
“(Rodriguez) said that y’all are going to be getting married. … He texted me today,” DeGeneres pried. Lopez did not bite, denying any future plans at the time: “He did not say that. … Let me see the text.”
But it appears DeGeneres could hear wedding bells ringing from miles away. The TV host was not the only celebrity to send well-wishes to the newly engaged couple.
Many stars, including Kourtney Kardashian, Gwen Stefani and Heidi Klum, reacted to the festive news on social media. “Boom,” Stefani wrote, while Kardashian and Klum added dozens of red hearts.
“Whaaaaaaattttt???? Congrats!!!!!! so excited for you two,” Hoda Kotb wrote.
Naomi Campbell, Jenna Dewan, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough, Jillian Michaels and “Shark Tank” star Lori Greiner all sent best wishes.
“Congratulations!” Paris Hilton wrote, adding a popping champagne emoji.
The duo made their red carpet debut in May 2017 at the Met Gala, and have been pretty inseparable ever since. Lopez called Rodriguez her “twin soul” during her Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award speech at the 2018 MTV VMAs.
Lopez and Rodriguez sparked engagement rumors in October after the mother of two was spotted sporting a gigantic diamond ring in Boston at Games 1 and 2 of the World Series.
Rodriguez previously hinted at proposing to Lopez in May during an interview on “The Tonight Show,” saying that “when it happens” Jimmy Fallon will be the first person to know.
In December, Lopez said she understood the marriage speculation. “Everyone wants a fairy tale. They all want a romantic comedy, a happy ending. We all do,” Lopez told USA TODAY. “But it’s not a movie, even if you see us on Instagram or on the shows.”
This will be Lopez’s fourth time down the aisle. She was previously married to waiter Ojani Noa (1997 to 1998), dancer Cris Judd (2002 to 2003) and singer Marc Anthony (2004 to 2014), with whom she shares 11-year-old twins, Maximilian “Max” David and Emme Maribel.
Rodriguez was married to Cynthia Scurtis from 2002 to 2008. They have two daughters: Natasha Alexander, 14, and Ella Alexander, 10.
