Roman Reigns announces on WWE Raw his leukemia is in remission

WWE star Roman Reigns entered the ring on Monday night’s episode of “Raw” with some great news regarding his battle with leukemia: he is once again in remission.

In an emotional moment, Reigns (real name Joe Anoa’i) updated the crowd on his battle with the disease, which he announced had returned in October after previously facing it in 2008.

“So when I tell you this I am so grateful, I am so humbled and I am so honored to announce this,” Reigns said, adding in response to fans that starting chanting “Wrestlemania” that “We’ll get to that later. Let’s crawl before we walk and walk before we can run.”

Then Reigns jumped in to his big reveal.

“The good news is, I’m in remission ya’ll,” Reigns said to thunderous applause that lasted nearly a minute uninterrupted.

A clearly moved Reigns followed that up by revealing his future on “Raw”.

“With that being said, the Big Dog is back!” Reigns roared, and was then greeted with chants of “Welcome back” from the crowd.

Reigns issued a “thank you” on Twitter later Monday.

“I said it before, I’m going to say it a lot – Thank you,” Reigns said. “I didn’t really get a chance because – I’m not going to lie, I was nervous. It was overwhelming just to hear the response, like ‘they actually cheered me,’ crazy…

“I just don’t feel like I would be in this position, or you know, feeling this good without all you guys, so one more time – it’s not the last time – but it’s one more time, thank you.”
