Rappers known as YNW Melly and YNW Bortlen have been charged with murdering members of their collective.
Jamell Demons, aka YNW Melly, 19, turned himself in to officials Wednesday. Miramar, Florida, police say an investigation concluded that Demons shot and killed his friends.
Cortlen Henry, aka YNW Bortlen, 20, was arrested and extradited to Broward County on Tuesday. Henry helped Demons stage the crime to look like a drive-by shooting, according to police.
Both Demons and Henry were charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Henry was also charged with two counts of accessory after the fact.
The incident in question happened in the early morning of Oct. 26, 2018, before Christopher Thomas Jr, 19, and Anthony Williams, 21, (who went by the respective stage names YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser) arrived at a Miramar hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.
By the time they got to the hospital, “They were dead already,” Miramar police spokeswoman Tania Rues said at the time.
Jamell “YNW Melly” Demons is best known for his song “Murder On My Mind,” which has disturbing video of a young man on a stretcher and more than 87 million views on YouTube.
