According to Hello Magazine in the U.K., Kensington Palace says many of the comments towards the Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are abusive. The magazine is taking a stand.
George Clooney is frustrated by the way the media is treating Duchess Meghan, comparing it to how the media covered Princess Diana.
Clooney told reporters the American actress, who became the Duchess of Sussex when she wed Prince Harry last year, is “a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was, and it’s history repeating itself.”
Diana died in a car crash while being pursued by paparazzi in 1997.
Clooney and his wife attended Meghan’s wedding to Diana’s younger son, Prince Harry, at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018.
Recent rumors have swirled about rising tensions between Duchess Meghan and Duchess Kate, the wife of Prince William, Diana’s elder son. The buzz led to a TLC special, which aired on Feb. 5, titled “Kate v Meghan: Princesses at War?”
Recent reports claim Meghan is demanding and difficult, a diva who is peremptory with the staff and bossy to Harry, and way too American in her approach to her new role.
“Meghan is ‘go-go-go-go, I’ve got to get it all done now.’ I think she needs to chill and slow down a little bit,” royal biographer Ingrid Seward said in “Kate v Meghan.”
Clooney made the comments about the royal rumors at the Television Critics Association conference in Pasadena, California. He is promoting his upcoming Hulu series “Catch-22.”
Clooney, who directs some of the episodes and co-stars as military boss Scheisskopf, told the Television Critics Association Monday that “Catch-22” is “one of the great American novels of all time; it was required reading when I was in high school.” The 57-year-old actor then jokes, “I hadn’t read it in a long time; high school was 15 years ago!”
